I’m sometimes amazed by the things I find while wandering around the Internet. And one great resource I stumbled across is 30 Days of Getting Results, a website based on the book Getting Results the Agile Way by J. D. Meier.
Getting Results the Agile Way is all about being more productive, and getting the results you want out of each day, month and year. And the website takes you on the tour of the book.
The way the site is laid out, you explore one new concept every day for thirty days. And there are also tips on applying those concepts.
Posts 1, 2 and 6 lay out the basics of the Agile Results system.
Day 1 – Monday Vision
On Monday, you choose three results you want for the week. If you can accomplish these three things, you’ll feel satisfied. Some examples of weekly results are creating slides for a presentation, writing a chapter of your book, or starting a garden.
Day 2 –Daily Outcomes
Every day, you choose three results, or outcomes, you want for that day. They can be things like mowing the lawn, finishing a report, or even enjoying your dinner. And, of course, some of your daily outcomes will be steps towards reaching your weekly goals. So if one of your weekly outcomes is to write a chapter of your book, a daily outcome could be writing a page or two of that chapter.
Day 6 – Friday Reflections
On Friday, you look back over your week and take stock. You do that by identifying three things that went well, three things you want to improve, and three things you’d like to do differently in the upcoming week.Of course, reading a summary or overview of a book is rarely as good as reading the actual book. But 30 Days of Getting Results will give you an idea of what Getting Results the Agile Way is all about, and whether or not it’s a time management system that could work for you. And while you’re reading the blog posts, you just might find a gem or two that will help to boost your productivity.
